Tutorial CDL-001 - Shutter Card

Have you seen those pretty and intricate Shutter Cards?  Have you wanted to do one, but think is so difficult?  Well the mistery is over!!!  Here is the easy tutorial to create them!   Give it a try you will be amaze of how easy they are to create:
Materials:
1 sheet of cardstock
2-3 pattern papers that match (doble side works wonderful)
Chalk ink in the color of your choice
Embellishments and sentiment to add to your card of your choice

Tools:
Trimmer
Scoring Blade, Stylus or Bone Folder
Exacto Knife

Procedure:

A) CREATING THE SHUTTER CARD BASE)

1) Cut cardstock to 5 1/2 x 11¨
2) Score at 2, 4, 8 and 10¨ ¨(see picture below)
To score, you can use the scoring blade, an stylus or bone folder
3) Using the exacto knife or your trimmer cut from the 2¨score to the 8¨score horizontally (or agains the scored lines)
4) Fold card, following the pattern of the picture below!

B) CUTTING PATTERN PAPERS

5) Sizes to cut pattern paper to add to the different squares of the card are:
A - 1 7/8 x 5 1/4 (2)
B - 2 7/8 x 1 1/4 (2)
C - 1 7/8 x 2 1/4 (2)
D - 1 1/4 x 1 7/8 (4)
E - 4 7/8 x 2 3/8 (1)

C) EMBELLISHING YOUR SHUTTER CARD

6) Chalk the edges of your card (which is a must for me!!!) before gluing pp to card. Chalk all card edges, externals and internals and pp as well!
7) Play around with the pp placements until you get the look that you want. Mix the pp papers to your choice...
8) Glue pp to card base
9) Add embellishments (flowers, sentiment, stickers, etc) ofyour choice!

CDL Tip:  Use your scraps of papers!  If you have scraps from a kit, store them together in a 8 1/2 x 11 page protector inside a binder.  Next time you want to create a card, you will have everything pre-coordinated!!!
Voilá... You have created your Shutter Card!!!  Enjoy...

Hope you enjoy this tutorial!
I am working in making a downloadable PDF file, so you can save them!
