ORGANIZED LUISA? Think about it...

Everybody who knows me, thinks I am super organized. And guys and gals, sorry to disappoint you, but I am not. I love to be organized. But here some samples of my messy SB area.

Photo 1.- I have been struggling all this year to find a good, portable and not so expensive way to sort my embellishments. For the last 5-6 months I have been using 12x12 cropper hopper folders by theme or cathegory. Like: THEMES: Birthdays, Girls, Friendship, Travel-Wedding, Boys, Calendar and CATEGORIES: Chipboard (of course I have tons of chipboard alphas and shapes in 3 more baskets, but this ones are the ones I take to crops plus some other I pick from the baskets, I have to admit), bling (rhinestones), ABC stickers, felt, rub-ons, etc. and has been working more or less. It is a portable solution but is not as pretty as I want. I guess is one of those things were you need to choose between pretty vs portable. Right now I choose portable.
Photo 3. This is my messy desktop. Is there a desktop under all those things? LOL. Right now this is how my desktop looks like, after working on 5 layouts and with tons of goodies I bought last weekend.
You can see my SB table in photo 5. sorry for the order, but my PC is very slow, so I leave it in this order.

Photo 3. Couple of months ago, I bought the staz-on opaque white stamp pad and the glue pad. They came in this clear plastic box, which I did not want to trow away. When I was trying to organize my fast growing collection of pens, I found out they are the perfect size for CM markers, as well as Martha Stewards, the glitter set and the opaque market sets fit perfectly in them. So I decided to GO GREEN and re-use them as my marker cases. They are portable, clear and after some rub-ons (that I am planning to add) they will be pretty too.

Photo 4. My Stickles and Alcohol Inks collection. They are in my crafter lockler cabinet, but the collection is growing fast. I just added 2 more sets of alcohol inks (only 2 more sets 3 buy). Soon I will need to dedicate one drawer to each of them, since Ranger got new shades for Stickles that coordinates with the Distress Inks. They got all at SYL and hope to buy them soon. I do have a portable solution for both of them. I use my green and pink CM accesories case and they fit perfectly. I guess I will need another one soon.

Photo 5. My Sb table. MESSY, MESSY, MESSY. Lets consider that messy equals creativity at it most right? LOL. Actually right now is more messy that in this photo since I bought more pens, markers, thickers and still not clean it. I got homework today.

You see? I am not that well organized. I am still searching for the perfect stamp pad storage cabinet and embelishment storage system. All my organizational gadgets need to meet this standard: PRETTY, AFFORTABLE AND PORTABLE. See you next time.

8/24/08 Weekly Recap

Hey, I am not late this week!!! Yeiii And why is that? PLANNING, simple pure PLANNING. Last week I did not plan at all and things when out of control. Affortunately I am going back in track.

- I finally submitted all the paperwork for my house sale. Waiting for this to finish.
- Girls are very happy at school and making a lot of new friends.
- Summer Picnic for HR people only was Saturday and it was great. For the first time I go to a summer party, where I don't have to work. I really enjoyed it.
- Went to the Circus. Val loves circuses and she has been beggin for a long time. Jaz went to the movies with some friends and we head to the circus. It was good MOM-DAUGHTER time.

SCRAPBOOKING: (got pictures this time! Planning works LOL),

1) This cards are from a card swap I participated. My very first one at a yahoo group (scrapbook and more). The cards I receive are awesome and so different.

2) I got a gift from Aida (she is adorable). She gave me a bag full of goodies, acrylic album, journal, chipboard album (already embellished) K&Co mat pad, foam brushes and 2 popsicles, that my 2 daughter grab as soon as they saw them. She gave me the gift for being selected LAYOUT OF THE DAY at http://www.wescrap.com/
Thanks Aida, you are so adorable and you know I really love you. XOXO

3) New goodies. I got my Fiskars Water Thread border punch. I also got this georgeous teal and ocean blue stamp pads from MS and the marvelous Glue Dots dispensers (I bought the mini and got the memory size as a freebie from Club 52 at SYL). I also bought 10 packs of thickers at SYL, they have all colors and textures (vynil, leather, foam, glitter) and in different sizes (small, medium, big) and in different foams (script, handwriting, capitals, etc). You need to go get some.

TO DO's (they are pretty much the same as last week, told you, lack of planning)

1) Finish projects (one LO and one card) to submit for SYL Creative Team. I am very excited about this opportunity. Hope I become selected. (crossing my fingers). I did a draft of my Bio and need focus on the projects (due date: 8/25)
2) Prepare page kits for sale. Yes! I am going to start selling page kits (they will include 2 cardstocks, 2 pattern papers, ribbon and 2-3 embellishments that match the paper) Cost will be from $3 to $4 dlls depending on the products included. This will be sold at crops, garage sales and on individual basis.

It is Friday and here are the layouts I want to share this week. These Layouts were finished last week, here they are:

Back in June, we were craving for Caramel Apples. By chance I happened to find a person who sold them. I bought 3 and girls were so happy to finally get one. Val save it for next day, Jaz decided to take a bath and then ENJOY her caramel apple in bed watching TV. She was delighted and I took the opportunity to take these pictures of her in pajamas enjoying her long time wisihing caramel apple. Love the photos and the patterned paper was just perfect for a 15 yo teenager eating her candy.

Title: ALEXEZ 5th Bd Party

This is the latest LO I have made. I did at our monthly Club 52 meeting from SYL (http://www.scrapbookyourlife.com/). I was very surprised that I had the perfect pictures for the LO we were doing this night.

We also did Bikini (Top and Bottom) cards.

Title: Crop Stop/Apr07

Another LO from my Crop Stop. No wonder is my favorite Croppin Croup.

This was my second crop with them. I remember we had a great make and take, sponsored by Bren Yule, CTMH consultant. It was a mothers day LO topper and cards in brown and teal. I have the topper in my door and the card in my small inspiration wall.

Title: KARLA

Karla is my first niece. She is almost 16 yo now. Last year they spent 2 weeks during summer with us and we went to the simming pools. She is a very "fashion girl" and she look georgeous in her bathing suite.

Title: Happy BD Layout from Valery (for my BD)

This LO was made by Valery (my oldest daughter). This was the main gift she gave me for my BD last June. She also did a card (which is in my desk at work). I love how she used all the stickers I give to her. I adore this layout. Both of my 2 little divas are very creative and always do some craft for my BD. Love it!!

More Challlenges

Challenge #20.- MAY REVIEW
Title: May 2008 Review
Efficient use of scraps. Had this scraps from a previous layout and handcut the small folder from pattern paper. Love the color combo here. Wanted to use lots of ribbon in a different way. I used a bunch of scraps of ribbon I had.

July Bonus Challenge.- Calendar
Title: June 08
Using black/pink/purple color combo. Love the result. I really like using big blocks for each week and small photos of different sizes.

Challenge #12 - Random Photo
Title: March 2008 @ Crop Stop
This photo is one of my favorites of group photos taken at crops. I love The Crop Stop Group and enjoy very much when I can make it to the crop. I wanted to use this scallop paper and the pink/cream/orange color combo. Plus I wanted to use my gelly pen, which I used to highlight the flowers on the scallop paper. Love it, love it, lov it.

LO Sharing Friday

This week has been hectic. So much, that this is my first post of the week.
This LOs are the ones I finished at last Saturday Crop with my group Crop Stop at Fe`s Studio. Finally my friends Kristal, Patti and Aida get together in a crop.

Michi is my newest niece. She was born in November 2007 and everybody is inlove with her. We visit my sister like every 2-3 months and of course we take pictures of her with all family members around. These photos are from March 08 (4 months). I used pink-peach as my base color and added a lot of flowers and other embellishments.

Title: Precious Alexez.
Everyone who knows me a little bit, knows that I am in love with my newphew Alexez. He is adorable and he loves to hang around my SB area. In this photos he was playing with my stamps, ink pads and stickers. He spend 3 days with us and he slept with me. I love the photo of him sleeping. I used a lot of ribbon and some BG fabric. Oh! and I use eyelet, my leask likely embellishment.

Title: Cousins
These photos were from March visit of my sister Alma`s children. They always have so much fun with my 2 daughters. These ones are random photos they took. They all love to pose for photos, since they know photos will become SB pages.

TITLE: My 1st Crop Group
I made this page for a challlenge at Coastals yahoo group. The challenge was to use distress inks, eyelets and flowers. As always I had some trouble with the eyelets but I did it.
Love the position of the photo and how I changed the color of the flower with chalk inks to adapt it to my color squeme.

All these challenges are participating in the Year in Review Challenge rom http://www.wescrap.com/.

Title: Without them I can't live.
Of course my layout is about my two georgeous daughters. I choose some old photos that I like very much and select Red/Pink/Purple as the color combo. I also wanted to use the bazzil cardstock with the scallop holes design.

Challenge 10.- ONE WORD
This LO is about the financial chaos that I suffer in March/April mainly. Still struggling but getting better. There are no photos, just blocks with info. The Arrow points to the action items I need to do and prevent from doing again.

Challenge 14.- A SLICE OF MY LIFE
My main struggle for this LO was gathering all the photos. I finally did and then select the paper I wanted to use. I wanted to use this cream specialy paper which is dry emboss. I painted with chalk inks (finally using them) the folded corner and the mat around the photo collage.

Challenge 16.- MEMORY BLAST QUIZ
Title: MY LIFE - April 2008
Something I am really enjoying from these challenges is that we are documenting what is going on in our lives. From TV programs, weather, current prices of gas, movies, tortillas, milk, etc to trips, jobs, current activities...

For this layouts I force my self to use some of the remaining I got from other projects and use a lot of my scraps. Also wanted to use my alpha sticker (which I got a lot of them). I like the end products and best of all I am happy that I did not buy anything new to do them, just seat at my SB desk and open my drawers, pulled my baskets and use my stash of supplies.

More coming next week...

This flower was made with my Technique Tuesday clear stamp (don't have the name of the stamp right now, but is the one that each petal is individual and has a different pattern on each one).
Well, since I begun scrapbooking (3 years ago) I bought a few packs of glitter (the fine type one) and never, ever use it.

In May I started asking my friend Kristal from SYL to bring the Glue Pad to the store. She did it (thanks Kristal) and of course I got to buy it (last June)

And finally I did it... Yessssss. I use my flower stamp and stamped with the glue pad in a clear package scrap (yes package from the alchol ink bottles) and then I added fine glitter with my finger. In the center of the flower is pink, in the middle is clear and in the end is light blue.

I will use this flower as an embellishment in a future layout. Don't know which one but will do.
I love the end result and also being able to re-use some of the packaging. Since I am trying to save money and transparent embellishments are so in right now, I think is a good idea to use my products and do them by myself.

8/03 Weekly Recap

- This year I am focusing in taking pictures of daily life and my environment. I want to capture all the things that surrounds me and of course main focus in the things I love, like my plants.
I have always like plants. I don´t consider myself a gardener, but I love plants and flowers.
As part of the photos that I have planned to take during the year are the quarterly photos of my garden (January, April, July, October) and the purpose is to capture how it change during the year (I got the idea from Ali Edwards).

This first photo is from a tree that is in front of my front door. Don´t know the name of it, but it grows fast and with this green color that I am starting to like. (for years green has been the color I like less.

As I mentioned before I am not a gardener, therefore I don´t know the name of this flower either. But is georgous. I am putting special attention to them this time (sounds like previous failure doing gardening, righ?).

And this last one is PINKY, since (again) I don´t know the name, I named pinky. Is growing very fast and spreading all over the planter.

My daughters say I am crazy, because I started talking to my plants (for years I thought people who talk to plants, were old people, guess I am not part of that group too LOL). When I tell them some day they will like plants too, they leaf at me. We will se... LOL

- Val and Jaz are back home (at last) from vacations. Val came back last week and Jaz this one. We are back together again (lunches, outings, fights, music, etc.) Goodbye calm and quiet home... Welcome noise and happiness..
- Getting ready for back to school.

- I have been experimenting new things, like using my glitter powders for the first time. (see Wednesday post).
- I participated in a challenge at coastals scrappers yahoo group. LO has to have: distress, eyelets and flowers. No problem with distress and flowers, but struggle a little bit with eyelets (they are just not my style, I prefer brads).
- I have been scrapping almost all Saturday. Finished 6 layouts (1 for the coastals challenge and 5 for http://www.wescrap.net/ Year in Review challenge). And best of all, I have been using a lot of my stash (even scraps of paper). I also want to do the challenge Use Your Stash from http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/. Plus the ones from the http://www.designx.blogspot.com/. I just realized that challenges is what works for me to be productive and creative. So I know the path to follow now.
- Next Saturday I am going to a crop (after 2 months of not going). Yipiiiii....

See you next time...

This layout is about my daughter Jazmin Graduation last June. I choose pink, because her Album is in pinks/light blue/light green/lilac colors. I devided to use a bunch of butons and at the same time, did this layout for the Year in Review contest from wescrap.com.

This one is my Monthly Calendar Layout (for the Year in Review Contest from www.wescrap.com). This is for the month of April and I did a twist, instead of using the normal calendar grid I use blocks for each week. This way I was able to include bigger pictures of major events.

This is the Monthly Calendar for May. The color combo is cream/pinks/browns. I decided color combos for each month earlier and is a lot easier. When doing the calendar layouts I try to use as much of my scraps as I can. There is no need for may embellishments and I focus mainly in one or two different types of them and use them a lot around the layout.

The is the Monthly Calendar for June. Color combo is black/pinks/purples. Not much my favorite color combo but I do like the outcome. I am trying to experiment with new color combos (by the way I discovered www.colorcombogalore.blogspot.com which is a blog decidated to color combos challenges, it is a great source of inspiration).

I used blocks also for this one (like this format better, it is more free style and more me LOL. Think will continue using this format for now on). I had so many photos for June with Jaz BD party, her graduation and summer picnic from job.

I love the few layouts I have finish during July (only 9). Not a very productive way in terms of layout creation, but productive in organization. See you next time...
